Introduction to Christian Businesses in Nigeria

There are many businesses in Nigeria today where you can find genuine christian brothers and sisters.

 These are:

*banking and finance;

*fishery and marine job;

*agricultural service;

*media and advertising

*education

*IT Service

*Fashion designing

"Estate management

*Food processing business

*Law and engineering

*Medical profession

*Electrical Engineering

*Aluminium Works

*or just buying and selling.

Believers are all there to make  a genuine living as well as to contribute their quotas to the development of the economy.

Unfortunately many of them and their businesses are not receiving the kind of patronage they deserve. One of the reasons is because they are just mixed up with other unbelievers. They are either in the same business space or attracting the same customers.

And because they are honest with their trade many of them struggle daily to hold on. They hardly derive the kind of success that they rightly deserve.

The consequence therefore is that some of them either abandoned their jobs or sadly deny their faith by going the wrong ways of the unbelievers.

As a good Christian we are exhorted in God's Word to remain firm in our faith and be deligent at all times. All we need is to find more practical ways to do our business by aligning with people of the same faith.

This is the purpose of this National Christian Directory. It intends to assist in promoting christian businesses and services to the outside world as well as to connect one another in the same christian community. Because we believe strongly that when the right atmosphere is created by ways of adverting  it will definitely lead to good success.

You can usese this link to register: Registration Form

Meanwhile, you can take a view of various businesses owned and manage by christian brothers and sisters here: Christian Businesses in Nigeria. And they are just available for you to contact for any business purpose or the other.

CHURCH SECTION - Introduction

Church is a christian place of worship. It's where those who believes in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ gather together to study the bible and offer songs and praises to God.

This is done in accordance to the instruction in Hebrew 10:25, which says that the Christians "should not forsake the gathering of the saints as some manners of some is, but exhort one another..." Heb.10:25

Such practice has been going on since the era of the old testament and later transformed into congregations and then the birth of all the new various worship centres globally.

One good thing about the church is that it offers a home of shelters both spiritually, emotionally and physically to people. That is the main reason why many people will always want to identify with a church, especially the one that meets their expectations.

The Nigeria Church is categorize into five bodies, viz:

•Catholic • Anglican • Methodist • Pentecostal • Indigenous Church.

And under these bodies there are several denominations. Though many remains in the same umbrella, their practice and system of worship varies. The Pentecostal and indigenous churches are mostly involved in this order....

However, this does not in any way suggest that they are worshipping different God or believing in another Lord and Savour apart from Jesus Christ. It's all about doctrines!

So to keep believers close to their faith it becomes imperative for them to always hang out with their beloved congratulation, especially when they are out of station.

This is the essence of this DIRECTORY. It intends to provide quick access to various church locations in order to facilitate easy connection. The service also assist unbelievers who are genuinely in search of the right place to worship or associate with people of the right faith.

The Listing and General Entry is available to every church and denomination in Nigeria.

Something you should know about Christianity in Nigeria

Church Growth in Nigeria - Special Reports By Dave Omokhodion

"....Go Ye into the world and preach the Gospel.." Mark 16:15

The beginning of Christianity in Nigeria dated back to the early 15th century. It was a missionary adventure by the Portuguese. They were said to have settled in Benin, mid-western region, but were not welcome by the Benin Kingdom.

In early 19th century European and British missionaries found their way into the country and settled in the remote part of Badagry, Lagos.

Record also have it that after a while the missionaries led by Thomas Birch Freeman and Samuel Ajayi Crowther a yorubaman who was once a slave but became a missionary, reportedly found their way to Abeokuta, South West Nigeria. There, several yoruba elites recognized the important of the Gospel and successfully keyed into it.

Because of the local religion practice however, the work of the gospel was not quite effective. Many people were not quite willing to turn away from their old ways.

But the rugged stand of some of the early converts could not be deterred.

To become more relevant the missionaries employed many measures to pass the message of salvation across to the citizens. Schools were built as well as hospitals and churches. And gradually people started seeing the need to let go of their African religion.

The accurate numbers of believers at that time can not actually be ascertained because everywhere the missionaries have their presence they also entered with mission works.

During this period, the like of Ajayi Crowther and a host of them gained prominent because of their serious involvement in spreading the Gospel.

Their several exploits include the translation and printing of the Bible to Yoruba language. The efforts did not only paid off but actually marked the turning point in the history of Christianity in Nigeria.

In the pre-colonial era christianity has started yeilding positive results. In fact the Gospel has gained prominent in several places in Nigeria, including the Eastern part and some places in the Middle Belt except in the northern part of the country due to Usman Dan Fodio jihadist movement.

The colonial government supported the missionaries work to such an extend that christianity became closely tied to Western Education. Several families were opportuned to give good education to their children.

During this period the early churches were predominantly the Anglican, Methodist and Catholic. But as Nigeria became more involved in church leadership, Indigenous, evangelical and Pentecostal churches came into focus.

The presence of Pentecostal movement was a fall-out from Martin Luther King broke away from the Catholic Church to form Lutheran Church in America. Several followers of the movement began to preach on the "JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH" maxim.

The era, no doubt sparked widespread of the gospel across Europe and America with the fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. And then some churches in America began to have roots in Africa soils, including Nigeria. Some of these churches included Apostolic church, Apostolic Faith, Assembly of God, Foursquare Gospel church, Presbyterian church and a host of others.

One beautiful work of the gospel was actually the confirmation of the power of God as there were several records of healings, deliverance and miracles both in churches, convention, crusade and revival grounds.

The spread of the gospel became more profound when several Nigeria believers started to travel abroad for ministerial training.

In the early 70s the like of late Archbishop Benson Idahosa broke all known protocols with his charismatic and power parked crusades in several dangerous places across the country.

It is on record that the Archbishop spear-headed many revolutionary moves in Christendom which led to the birth of many Pentecostal churches in Nigeria today. The efforts, no doubt, enhanced the gospel as many people became saved.

Today Nigeria has about 100 millions christians,  one of the largest christian population in africa, with diverse rang of denominations and churches. Their works spread across healthcare, social welfare and education.

In conclusion, the spread of the Gospel can not but be accepted as successful in Nigeria in spit of certain persecution. Virtually every nook and cranny of the country, including the islamic stronghold in the north have a touch of the Gospel.

Lives are getting more saved, people are becoming more enlightened in God's word and miracles of different nature are still being recorded. This can only but be a testimonial of the presence of the Holy Spirit as always.

DISAGREEMENT HONOUR AND THE SPRING OF BITTERNESS

By Friends who like Abel Damina

***This post is an exclusive opinion of the writer and does not represent the view of the editorial team of Zionhouse National Christian Directory. We believe Opinion is free but Truth is Sacred.***

Disagreement is normal in the Kingdom of God. What is abnormal is envy, rebellion, stubbornness, bitterness, dishonour and pride because rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, stubbornness is as idolatry and pride goeth before a fall.

One of the strongest examples of fatherhood and sonship in the Kingdom today is between Daddy G. O and Bishop Oyedepo and I have also said that it is because of their laid down examples that many 'RCCG and LFC' members are not at loggerheads today like the disciples of Jesus and John the Baptist. However you may be surprised that there are major areas of doctrinal disagreement between them... Yet they have never broken ranks.

RCCG believes that anyone that divorces and remarries will go to hell. LFC does not exactly agree with that according to the Mandate.

RCCG believes in taking loan to build churches, they have over 45,000 branches today. LFC does not believe that and states that clearly also and have over 22,000 churches to show. I can go on and on with the example of these 2 brotherly churches.

Let's not restrict it to both of them.

From the Bible and History there have been myriads of cases of doctrinal differences

Peter disagreed with Jesus

Paul disagreed with Peter.

Barnabas disagreed with Paul.

Many years later, Martin Luther disagreed with the Pope and we have the Lutheran Church.

The Anglican Church also came out Catholic Church

Methodist came out of Anglican.

TAC Nigeria came out of Anglican

CAC took its name after infighting in TAC.

WOSEM came out of CAC..

Let's continue.

William Seymour disagreed with Parnham

Florence Crawford disagreed with Seymour and established AFC

Bro T Oshokoya was trained by Crawford and many years later in Nigeria, Bro Kumuyi disagreed with Oshokoya and established Deeper Life (People don't even know that Bro Kumuyi still went to see Bro Oshokoya for restitution)

Interestingly, by 1981, some 8 years after Kumuyi left AFC, Deeper Life had about 8000 people at its retreat while AFC had 8,050 at Anthony Village. Kumuyi never insulted him.

Ayo Oritsejafor disagreed with Idahosa

Tony Rapu disagreed with Pastor Adeboye

Tunde Bakare, Simeon Afolabi and Dayo Olutayo disagreed with Bishop Oyedepo

AFC believes in tithes and offerings but no offering basket.

RCCG and LFC didn't use offering  baskets at inception but now do and they believe in tithe and offering.

Now someone said though Malachi talks about tithe and offering, they can remove the Tithe  but leave the Offering, he will still collect. Fine!

The examples are unending

Suddenly a few years ago, Sunday Adelaja laid the foundation of insults in disagreement. It was shortlived as he lost his ministry in Ukraine.

Then of recent, someone else began to feel hollow due to his deeds then went to one mountain and came back with new knowledge of insult to the elders...

I am of the opinion that his knowledge is mostly unscriptural... But let's assume without conceding that he is even right, is that how to correct those before you?

Is Pastor Adeboye not old enough to be your father?

Is Daddy Kumuyi your mate?

Is Oyedepo your younger brother?

Are they not elders?

Is that how the Bible asked you to talk to elders as quoted in the scripture above?

Are you not aware that even though you no more believe in the tithe, every other single seed you are sowing now, money or otherwise, you will reap?

I weep because you arr breaking a very basic law of life without realizing.

Nobody is asking you not to disagree (even if you are obviously wrong) but this honour you don't want to render can only lead you to reap the kind of dishonour you can never ever imagine in your lifetime...starting from those who seem to be hailing you to destruction in the name of 'he is teaching good'. . .

Yorubas in Nigeria have a saying about the dog who no longer listens to the whistle of his master the hunter.

I leave you with the scripture below...

Proverbs 1:5, 7b

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

...but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Dreams are Actionable

DREAMS ARE ACTIONABLE

By Dr. Segun ‘Tremendous’ Oshinaga

The secret to making things happen is to first dream them. You cannot work out what you have not dreamed of. Work is the factory and laboratory for dreams. It is the dream that supplies the passion, energy and stimuli for the works. “All men dream, but not equally.

"Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.” T.E. Lawrence.

A man or woman with a dream backed with purpose, focus and vision is a dangerous man or woman. The proof of the validity of a dream is the readiness to back it up with passion, hard work and commitment.

Strategies needed to grow a new ministry

A dream you are not willing to back up with hard work is what the dictionary calls – day dream or fantasy. It’s a dream because you are willing and ready to go to work on it. Through thick or thin, hard and tough, your hands are on the plough and your legs are trudging the dusty lanes of life in search of opportunities.

“And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.” Genesis 37:19. A dreamer does not fold his hands or hang his feet but is always 'cometh.’ It is no accident that the word – ‘business’ is barely different from ‘busyness.’ You can’t be in business if it doesn’t make you tough. Your hands are on the plough and your legs are trudging the dusty lanes of life in search of opportunities.

You can’t be in business if it doesn’t make you busy. So whatever the challenges you encounter on the way to fulfilling your dream, ‘dream yet another dream.’ Whatever you do, don’t stop dreaming and working your dream.

13 Ways you can "magically" draw people to your church and also increase membership

As a pastor or a church founder, there are some ways you need to know which will magically attract people to your church as well as makes them to become regular members .

These methods have nothing to do with acquiring strange powers like some other pastors do but the practical and biblical ways of growing a ministry.

Having been called into the ministry God also promised to equip you with everything you need to succeed. Both spiritually, financially, materially and intellectually.  All you need to do is to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and apply the ways that are clearly outline here.

First thing on the list is Prayer and Evangelism. You can't go far in bringing people to your church or to keep them if you don't have the gift of praying and evangelism. You may be a good preacher but you also need  to go out to evangelize. Many successful pastors and founders will tell you that. And then back up your efforts with strong prayer.

2. Preach life transformative sermons or Messages. This is not about sugarcoating your Bible teaching but delivering your sermons that are meaningful to the lives of the people. It should be able to guide them in real life.

3. Build discipleship. You are called into the ministry and therefore be able to encourage your members to serve as well. Create the enably environment for them to serve in various capacities, including engaging in leadership roles.

4. Foster community integration. Don't fold your hands and expect people to be coming to your church just like that. Try to create small groups, Bible studies, and social events to build relationships and a sense of belonging.

5. Your personal connection. Your personal connection with your members and your community matters a lot. You need to regularly visit, call, or meet with them to show care and interest in their lives.

6. Recognize the importance of your members by celebrating their achievement, anniversaries and special occasions. This is one way to make them feel relevant in your ministry.

7.  Engage in Outreach programs. Organize community events, outreach initiatives, and service projects to engage with the surrounding community.

8.  Social media presence. Today, you are awared, many people uses social media, like Facebook , Whatsapp, Instagram or Twitter to connect with friends and families. You can utilize these platforms to share your message, events, and testimonies.

9.  Make use of what is known as 'Invitation culture'. This means, to encourage your existing members to invite friends and family to services and events.

10.  Don't bore your newcomers. Worship service is a great way to go. Ensure that the moment  are always friendly and engaging so that newcomers will want to come back for more.

11.  Always engage in follow-up. Contact visitors and newcomers to thank them for attending and invite them to return.

12.  Set up membership classes. Offer classes or workshops to help new members understand your church's vision, values, and beliefs.

13.  Don't do things alone, be involved in community network.  Partner with local organizations and businesses to increase visibility and build relationships.

Remember, building a strong, engaged church community takes time, effort, and dedication. Focus on nurturing your existing members while also reaching out to those in your surrounding community.

The Numerical Statistics of Pentecostal churches in Nigeria.

There's no doubt that christianity has grew astronomically over the years in Nigeria. A big thanks to the work of evangelism by various churches.

The Pentecostal churches have recorded significant improvement in membership statistics. In the southern part of the country the figure is quite higher compared to the Northern areas.

The reason is mainly due to the persecution of Christians and some State governments laws and bylaws which prohibit some religion practice especially Christianity.

But in spit of the limitations the church has been able to control and maintain the spreading of the gospel nationwide. Today the Pentecostal churches boast of good numbers of church registered members, attendees, followers and affiliates.

Below is the statistical analysis of membership in most of the Pentecostal churches in the country. The source of this information is based on Church Reports, News Articles, Online Directory and Christian Organisations.
